President John welcomed our guest speaker Ariana Andrews.

He reminded us that next week is our evening meeting at Remuera Golf Club for our RYLA night. Places are filling fast. Kalle our Rotary Exchange Student should be there to meet you all.

Polio Walk

There will be a Polio Walk in the Domain; Save the date-12 October 2024 12 noon to 2.30pm.

Trees for Survival

Finally, remember the Trees for Survival planting day to take place on 9 August - Pinnacle Hill Road, Bombay 9.30am to 1pm.

Garden Design Fest 23 & 24 November

Early bird sales have closed with a pleasing take up. There is a good deal of enthusiasm for this event so we are hoping to build on the success of the last Design Fest.

New Support Members

To encourage younger members to become involved, provision is being made for an RCON Support Team category of membership. An admin fee would be payable, and the listing and details of the Team members would be included in the Handbook.

Ariana Andrews

Ariana was our guest speaker at our 6 August meeting. She is a RYLARIAN and a member of our club. She is also a member of the Auckland City Rotoract Club.

Arianas presentation was about Building Positive Peace. She is based at Auckland University studying for the degree Master of Public Health

She updated us on ther Rotaract Oceana MDIO. She also Recently attended IEP ( International Economics on Peace )

Positive Peace Activators Oceana 2024

Themes she took from the conferences are as follows;

Negative Peace is absence of War & Violence . Positive Peace discovers Peace
Rotary Partnership with IEP Approach is important to make a better world
There are Rotary influences that can create Peace in our communities
Small actions can have s big input
Projects can be shared to work together to build positive communities
Discussion was based on Oceana area and not the areas of conflict in Europe

RC Auckland Metro

We are excited to invite you to a meaningful opportunity to support the youth in our community! The Rotary Club of Auckland Metro is partnering with Glenavon Intermediate School to host a Car Wash Fundraiser aimed at supporting their Sports Camp Journey.

This transformative camp will offer over 40 sporting events combined with value-based learning, making a significant impact on the students' development and growth.

How You Can Participate:

Drive In: Bring your car by for a thorough wash and make a donation on the spot.

Your support is crucial in helping these young students embark on an enriching journey that will foster both their athletic abilities and personal values.
