Our speaker on Tuesday was Tushar Sharma, Photographer. 

 

Tushar introduced us to IMAgEN8 a registered charity which he founded for the purpose of fostering sustainable connections with New Zealand's natural environment in our diverse communities through education, photography and technology

offers

• Nature Photography Workshops: Held on school grounds and reserves, these workshops help youth ages 8-18 connect with nature, enhance wellbeing, and foster environmental stewardship through creative expression.

• Borrow-a-Camera Programs: Initiatives like "Be an Environmentalist" and "Be an Artist" equip and enable students to capture compelling stories about nature through workshops, webinars and assignments so they can create images to inspire love and connection with nature.

• Free or Low-Cost Activities: Our programs are available to students for free or at very low cost as they are funded through grants or through schools.

• Accredited Duke of Edinburgh Activity: IMAgEN8 is an an accredited activity for the Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award as well.

• Showcasing Student Work: Students' work is published in books and our biannual magazine, Compassionate Nature, and has been featured in several exhibitions around Auckland at community centres and local libraries. So far there have been 1172  particpants in the scheme, 7 books, 16 Magazines, and 12 exhibitions of student's works.

Tushars presentation was well recieved by members as were the books he brought with him to showcase students work.

 

 

Huge thanks to everyone who helped reclad and build the Hydroponics House project at EGGS.

As you can see from the attached pics, the finished product is outstanding and will be an excellent centre for EGGS' hydroponics production.
 
Special thanks to Miles Cain who brought his carpentry skills and equipment to build the frame and door and provide the right tools for cutting the clear acrylic cladding and screwing them in place.
 
This was a true Rotary community project with funds and volunteers from three Rotary and one Rotaract club.
