Salvation Army Foodpacking The pattern of support for those in need of community food boxes is changing, and our packing role with it. Severe budgetary constraints are forcing the Sallies to cut back on both the size and the content of the food boxes issued. The selection of particular items by recipients may gradually replace some of the standard packed boxes we have been working with over the last 3 years. Our food packing team – involving half a dozen clubs – has done a sterling job, first at Manukau, and latterly at Mt Wellington. We are now underemployed [100 boxes packed last Wednesday]. If we are required again in September, it will possibly be for only a single morning pack? We’ll keep the combined Rotary team advised of developments, but to save a wasted journey, please check with P-E John or Alan Hayward before turning up at Mt Wellington on any given Wednesday morning. |
