A great night at Epsom Bowling Club when the MacMillan Trophy for petanque supremacy was at stake.

After working their way through qualifying the team of Nathan Saminathan and Sean Peacock came out on top.

Likewise last Saturday preparing breakfast at Epsom Lodge.

On Tuesday morning, Christine McKnight, Deputy Principal at One Tree Hill College, regaled the Penrose Club and some RCON members with highlights from her outstanding tennis refereeing career to date.

She is an international chief tennis referee, having attended 4 Olympic Games, Wimbledon, several Australian Opens, numerous ASB Auckland and other tournaments world wide. She is highly trained, and provides training for other chief referees in the making.  In the big matches she is assisted by twelve cameras courtside, coordinated to accurately identify the line calls.

Her son and one of her daughters are spectacularly following in her footsteps – major tennis achievers in their own right.  All this as well as helping to run much of the College administration – think of the Rotary Apprentice Programme, School Lunches, Interact etc. A remarkable presentation by an energetic and able teacher and professional tennis referee.”

Epsom Lodge Breakfast – Saturday 15th March

Some of the team who prepared the breakfast for the Salvation Army Epsom Lodge residents, and guests, last Saturday. Boyne Drummond, the 5th and a key member of the team, still doing the washing up!
Thanks all – much appreciated by those who breakfasted.

This years champions Nathan and Sean

We held another very successful event for the Bob McMillan Trophy on 18th April.

Despite the weather forecast the evening was perfect with 26 keen souls ready to “fight the fight”!

The tournament was won by 2 newbies to the game, Nathan Saminathan and Sean Peacock of Rotaract fame.

Well done to the winners you will have to defend your titles next year.

The social interaction and the BBQ afterwards made the evening success.

Here’s to next year.

Thanks to Greg and Gwyneth Car for organising the food
