Our prodigious D9920 Youth offering & Calendar

Peter Ross, provided this update with dates to mark in your calendar.
The state of play related to 9920 youth programs and planned events through to the end of your year.

INTERACT : Ainie Kwok has been working with the Interact team out of Auckland Grammar (another initiative coming out of RYPEN and the linking with Interact Clubs) The Grammar Interact team are organising a Blood Bankproject where the interactors are giving blood.
This will take place at the Blood Bank in Great South Road, next to Dilworth,  on Thursday 4th May.
Ainie will be seeking support from other Interact Clubs and their associated Rotary clubs.
This may be something for your monthly news update.

RYPEN there is a proposal being worked on to have a return visit for RYPEN graduates from 2023, probably no more than a day sometime in the next few months.
It is worth noting that RYPEN 2023 under the oversight of Ainie Kwok and George Wilson was run and lead by Josh Simpson, Tia Pousini and Chrystal Hayr (all ex RYLA) and mentored by ex RYLA graduates from 2022 and as far back as 2015. Many of these will now go on to help run RYLA 2023 as well as the disability camp planned for September.

MUNA invites are out to schools and Jan Malcolm advises me she has almost reached full acceptance of teams wishing to attend. Jan and her team are doing a great job of getting this organised dealing with a few new challenges that they have started to find solutions for. Jan is looking for volunteers in time keeping and judging. Rotary Club Youth committees should be encouraged to look in on MUNA this year.

Rota Pacific is up and going again; we have three people coming from Fiji. Stewart Littlejohn (HMB) and Erica Leehave done a great job of searching out and selecting what appear to be three good candidates. This year it will only be three in total, all billeted through Half Moon Bay with Stewart Littlejohn as the leader. Papakura will be assisting with the southern part of our district. We will be organising a number of club visits to maintain the interest and support from Auckland clubs.
They will arrive on June 18th when we are expecting to hold a welcoming function.

RYDA is getting a new lease of life under George Wilsons leadership and the lack of restrictions we had under Covid. He has a very enthusiastic team which includes newcomers Gary Key and Terry Mikkelsen.

RYLA  planning is reaching the final stages and we have a very large (40plus) contingent of returning RYLArians to help lead and run the program across all aspects of the week. Todd Hanlon will be leading RYLA this year with the assistance of Richard Wilkie, Bill Charkow, Steel Gibson and a number of committed Rotarians and we have a number of very good speakers already committed. I should also note that Vicki Jones from Papakura is returning for her third year in a row as camp Nurse (Mum) with assistance from husband Morris Jones for RYLA
Opening for RYLA is 24th June and we would like you to be there to assist with the opening, just a very short piece required from yourself.

District 9920 programs are in great shape through no small input from a team of very dedicated Rotarians (especially Ainie) and RYLArians.
