Past president and past district governor Roger Harvey gave us a brief update on what is happening in the world of Rotary.
- In Seattle – Rotary clubs in that city have got together to build 400 ft.² tiny houses to provide shelter for homeless people
- Ellerslie Sunrise is collecting tools and sending them to Taveuni, Fiji, to enable young men on that island to learn how to use those tools and be able to build dwellings for their people.
- In June 1 .4 million children were immunised against polio by 260,000 health volunteers in Pakistan. A great job well done by brave and committed people.
- The board has approved a request for $5000 to go towards the 2019 eye project in Taveuni, a project which our club has regularly supported in the past, and;
- The Board also approved a payment of $2000 as a contribution to a water project being undertaken in Northern Thailand. The project has been put together by the Rotary E club. It will attract matching Grants from Rotary foundation increasing the amount available for the project.
