Rotary Apprenticeship Program.
Charlotte from the Penrose Rotary Apprenticeship Program (RAP) spoke to us about the progress on the House rebuild being undertaken by students at One Tree Hill College.
In summary
- The house that is being rebuilt at One Tree Hill College was built in 1968
- It is Homestar Level 7 to meet H 1 code . Needs to not overheat which happens when windows are too big
- There has been alot of media coverage is great as it brings in sponsorship.
- Blower door test had a reading of 19 & has to get down to a reading of 5.
- Auction of the home is the end of 2024
- One Tree Hill College is the first NZ School to rebuild an ex state house.
- Kianga Ora are working with NZ Schools to give them houses to rebuild.
- The reason why the R A.P. started is because the students needed a really positive skill of communication & talking . Now the students are progressing well. Students want to learn & turn up to school now to create a great result .
- Breaking the Ice or getting to know the students helps them to relax & enjoy their time.
- Students know R.A.P. is a privilege & a great opportunity for them
What a great concept. It gives students hands on lessons in building skills and the opportuity to see what hard work can achieve from begining to end.
