The upbringing he had taught Ryan to care and be resilient and to stay positive.
Ryan attended Manurewa high School where his abilities shone through. Until about year 12 he mapped about about but in that year he discovered business studies was pushed by his teachers to apply for a first foundation scholarship. That changed his life and kickstarted his academic career which has skyrocketed since.
Working through the first foundation enabled him to work with others ultimately finishing school placed first in science. He was CEO of a team in the S.E.L.L program. In that program his team produced olive oil which they sold donating a part of the proceeds to the life education trust program. The raised about $12,000 for life education trust and put over 3000 children through the life education trust programs.
He also entered the MIT science fair and in 2012 attended Outward Bound at Anakiwa in the Marlborough sounds.
In his last year at school he was a prefect.
Ryan attended Auckland University business School studying fof a BCom in international finance. In his studies he was supported by mentors from the Marion Pacific Island students Association. Then as he progressed through the system he himself became a member of the Marion Pacific Island, students Association ultimately becoming president and provided and developed mentoring services for new students.
In his final year he is was selected to attend a one-week Stanford University conference for student entrepreneurs from across the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to a selection to attend Stanford Ryan was the runner-up in the Ernst & Young Auckland University business student of the year for 2015 and he won the Auckland University business School 2015 mentor award. And if that wasn’t enough he graduated with a degree in commerce from the University of Auckland in December 2015.
He is currently on a graduate role at Vodafone. For the future he is looking to be a role model to help Maori youth and supporting the Manurewa high School business School. His aim is to demonstrate to children in that area how to work and lead their communities.
Truly a remarkable young man whose progress we will watch in years to come.
