Stories
Nigel Fowler

Guest speaker on Tuesday was one of our own - Nigel Fowler.  Nigel been a member of the club since 2011 and is an ex-RYLARIAN.

He is married to Sofia who is an artist.Image result for nigel fowler

Nigel started his first business in his 20s importing celery products from the US.

His  current venture is Biz Story, a company that specialises in providing copy for webpages. In other words Biz Story drafts web content for websites including case studies or tenders new sales. The company prepares articles for digital campaigns.

Products include web content for websites, product content for e-commerce and promoted articles social channels e.g. Facebook twitter etc.

To do its job Bizstory workshops with its clients, finding out how those clients “speak”, how their message is conveyed and then drafts content targeting the intended market.

Bizstory employs about eight staff and is growing extent that Nigel is looking at expanding into Australia.

The main competition for Bizstory is freelancers who do one-off jobs.  With Bizstory story however there is a big picture element to what is produced so the company has an advantage in that regard.

It is always interesting hearing what members are doing and Nigel’s story certainly came up trumps

Habitat For Humanity - Cambodia

Rotary has had a long association with Habitat for Humanity, with many clubs participating in both local and international builds. Miles Cain (of St Johns Rotary) has personally been on four Habitat builds to Nepal, Buenos Aires , Vietnam and last November, India and is now offering the chance of participating in a similar adventure to others.

He says; All these trips have been exceedingly rewarding for all the volunteers and a great opportunity to see a bit of the country. Within each of these builds there has been a good representation of Rotarians.

This October/ November I am leading a team into Cambodia to build one house in Phnom Penh. I am looking for a team of 12 and if interested I need a commitment by mid May as we need to lock in airfares etc. The build is for 6 days followed by about an 8 day tour which is in the process of being put together.

Indicative build cost is shown on attached brochure. Airfares and tour costs will be additional.

Very happy to discuss further, if interested . If it is not time for you this year, you may know someone else that could be interested so please spread the word.

With a small group, remember there are limited seats.

Regards, Miles Cain, M: 0274 469 225
