There is ample parking at the front of the school, ideally in the upper carpark area to the left of the Rockfield Road entrance.
Exams mean that breakfast is in the AV room – walk towards main Reception, then take the path to the left, towards the 2-storey teaching block.
Go down the steps and cross through an open Commons area, then proceed to the right along the corridor. The AV room then appears on the left - and is accessed by a door from the corridor. |

A Landrover on Parliament Steps/An Award-Winning
Heart Researcher/John & Anne Burton Heart Research
Award
Join us for what will be a great address by
Professor Julian Paton
Julian Paton was the unwitting accomplice when David Seymour drove a vintage Land Rover up
Parliament’s steps. When Julian first moved to New Zealand about eight years ago, he had a
default response when asked about why he was shifting across the world:
“I'm after George the Sixth’s Land Rover.”
George VI - Queen Elizabeth's father - was due to visit New Zealand in about 1950 but never made
the journey.
“But what they did ahead of his visit was to ship his Land Rover, which is the 101st Land Rover ever
made.” It never got returned to England. Julian now owns it.
Event Details:
📅 Date: Tuesday 9th December
🕡 Time: 6:30pm for dinner, followed by Rachel’s presentation
📍 Venue: Remuera Golf Club, 120 Abbotts Way, Remuera
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear about Julian’s epic Landrover trip and an
update on his heart research and the announcement of this year’s John & Anne
Burton’s Heart Research Award.

Rotary Newmarket Presents: An Inspiring Evening with the CatWalk Trust
A Live Q&A with Dan Buckingham & Grant Sharman
Join us for a powerful and uplifting evening as we host a special conversation with two
extraordinary New Zealanders supporting the life-changing work of the CatWalk Spinal Cord
Injury Trust.
Founded in 2005 by Dame Catriona Williams, CatWalk was born from adversity and driven by
hope. Once one of New Zealand’s leading international equestrian riders, Dame Catriona
sustained a spinal cord injury in 2002 that left her a C6/C7 tetraplegic. What began as friends
fundraising to support her recovery soon became something far greater — a bold mission to fund
world-class research aimed at curing spinal cord injury.
Today, CatWalk backs leading scientists working toward the very real and achievable goal of
reversing paralysis.
We are privileged to welcome:
Dan Buckingham – Chair of CatWalk, former member of the Wheel Blacks, and current ACC
Board member.
Grant Sharman – Deputy Chair of CatWalk, celebrated Paralympian, acclaimed foot-and-mouth
artist, and coach of the gold medal-winning Wheel Blacks team at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.
Together, Dan and Grant will share insights, personal experiences, and the inspiring journey of
CatWalk in a candid and engaging Q&A session.
This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from two remarkable leaders whose resilience,
achievement, and commitment to advancing spinal cord research are truly extraordinary.
An evening not to be missed.
Guests warmly welcome.
