Jane Haines and Karen Bennett from the Staples Education Foundation Dilworth Tertiary Scholarship Programme2015 was the Staples Education Foundation’s (SEF) first year offering support and guidance to worthy Dilworth Students through our wrap around programme. The Trust Board and Executive Team have worked together to create what we believe is a first class programme to support Year 13 Students transitioning into university study in accordance with our objectives and values. A number of scholarships are awarded per annum to high achieving school leavers studying at an Auckland university. A SEF Scholarship offers financial and holistic support to the Students by matching them with Mentors and Buddies, ongoing training for all parties through the Support and Development Programme, as well as 2 weeks Work Experience per year in the profession or industry they would like to work in. Mentors and Students are also offered support through Psychologists attached to our programme.

Kia ora everyone,
We’re thrilled to invite you to a special evening hosted by the Rotary Club of Newmarket — a celebration of the RYLA 2025 journey, and the incredible young leaders who made it unforgettable.
This is more than a dinner. It’s a chance to hear directly from our RYLArians — in their own words — as they reflect on the workshops that challenged them, the moments that connected them, and the experiences that shifted their perspectives.
Over the course of the evening, you’ll hear stories of growth, grit, and gratitude — from the adrenaline of the outdoor challenge to the heart behind the social enterprise projects, and the personal leadership lessons they’ll carry forward.
This is also our way of saying thank you to the Rotarians whose support makes RYLA possible. Your impact echoes far beyond the week itself — and this night will show you just how far.
Save the date — you won’t want to miss it.
We can’t wait to see you there.
Ngฤ mihi nui,
Kelly & Penelope

There is ample parking at the front of the school, ideally in the upper carpark area to the left of the Rockfield Road entrance.
Exams mean that breakfast is in the AV room – walk towards main Reception, then take the path to the left, towards the 2-storey teaching block.
Go down the steps and cross through an open Commons area, then proceed to the right along the corridor. The AV room then appears on the left - and is accessed by a door from the corridor. |

A Landrover on Parliament Steps/An Award-Winning
Heart Researcher/John & Anne Burton Heart Research
Award
Join us for what will be a great address by
Professor Julian Paton
Julian Paton was the unwitting accomplice when David Seymour drove a vintage Land Rover up
Parliament’s steps. When Julian first moved to New Zealand about eight years ago, he had a
default response when asked about why he was shifting across the world:
“I'm after George the Sixth’s Land Rover.”
George VI - Queen Elizabeth's father - was due to visit New Zealand in about 1950 but never made
the journey.
“But what they did ahead of his visit was to ship his Land Rover, which is the 101st Land Rover ever
made.” It never got returned to England. Julian now owns it.
Event Details:
๐
Date: Tuesday 9th December
๐ก Time: 6:30pm for dinner, followed by Rachel’s presentation
๐ Venue: Remuera Golf Club, 120 Abbotts Way, Remuera
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear about Julian’s epic Landrover trip and an
update on his heart research and the announcement of this year’s John & Anne
Burton’s Heart Research Award.
