Brian McMath gave us a mini vocational.

Brian comes from Greymouth. His father was an accountant in the town.

After leaving school Brian attended Canterbury University doing an honours degree in chemistry. While he was at school and through his University career he worked at Westland Breweries finishing off as delivery truck driver delivering kegs of beer to hotels serviced by the brewery.

Brian’s corporate life started at Ford motor company moving to New Zealand industrial gases/BOC then APV food technology and finally Burkett fluid control systems. When he left the corporate world in 2006 Brian happened across nasal strips which were being used in the United States racing industry. Having always had an interest in the horses Brian acquired the master distribution rights for nasal strips in New Zealand and Australia. A large number of horses are now using these strips with significant results.

Ralph Cooney a former member of the club asked Brian to help commercialise research projects being undertaken by the University. He assisted in bringing to market novel hybrid polymers. He assists with Materials Excelerator and the Product’s Acelerator.

One of his successes is helping in New Zealand reduce its spare parts inventory through the use of 3d printing. Fold down tables are being printed for use on Air New Zealand aircraft using 3-D printers. The first one produced was manufactured using an RCON 3-D printer.
